There are always questions that hold up the billing process. No matter how much experience you have using ICD-9-CM, Physicians’ Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) and HCPCS code. Remember that billing errors can result in fines. You can't afford to guess! Make sure you have a printed copy of Definition of the Procedure Codes!

Make sure you have the latest fee schedule or a document that tells you what is allowable or how much the insurance will pay the doctor ("allowables", or reimbursement schedule).
