questions, and keep your private information to yourself until you are sure you are dealing with a reputable
company.
Once you have made the jump from medical coding, or medical billing employee to self-employed independent
contractor, you need to focus on finding doctors landing your first medical billing contracts, build a solid base
of clients, and locate funding sources for the costs involved with home business start-up and marketing. Overcoming
the various obstacles, and knowing where to turn for help will give aspiring medical coding professionals like
yourself the edge they need to succeed. Off-site employees work at home and communicate with the office by

I will have to pay taxes on you, I will have to pay for your/mine office setup from home, communications setup,
software setup and also your going to be of a GREATER LIABILITY to me than if you were to be here in my office
where I have control over such liabilities.
Now if you were a business owner, you could take all those draw-backs and turn them into benefits for my
practice. You could save me money because you will be using YOUR software, your internet connection,
phone lines, and YOUR liability is your own under your business structure. You are also going to have the
proper setup/structure for me to be more comfortable about outsourcing in regards to being compliant and having

home, your boss and coworkers expect that everything goes smoothly. If you didn't complete tasks on time, very
likely it was not because you had to work through job related complications and interruptions. You will
either have to work double to make up for lost time, or admit to the boss, that working from home just isn't for
you.
Planning Work Hours and Balancing Family Time: Although you might have some flexibility in
work hours, you will find that maintaining a regular schedule and routine is very important for productivity. It
provides predictability to your friends and family so they understand when you can be approached and when you may
not be interrupted. It is important to set hours for client contact, business operation, breaks and administration.
Because your home business will affect your family and general lifestyle you should also plan activities outside
the home and family time. Those who successfully balance their work and family time will find that working from
